Kia Seltos SUV Exports to Start End of September

Korean automaker KIA Motors would start exports of a mid-size sports utility vehicle (SUV) ‘Seltos’ later this month, a top official said. The company will look for a chance to ship at around 500 units to mid-South America to start with and later to the Middle East and South Asian markets , KIA Motors Chief Operating Officer Jong Soo Kim said.
As part of shipping, it’s vehicles, Glovis India Anantpur Pvt Ltd Managing Director Jim Young Kim swaped documents with Chennai Port Trust Traffic Manager M S Balani in the presence of top officials of KIA Motors and Chennai Port. Glovis India Anantpur Pvt Ltd is the logistics service provider of KIA Motors.

The deal would be valid till 2029 and KIA Motors would exclusively use Chennai Port for exports of vehicles, he said. KIA Motors India COO Jong Soo Kim said the company would see to gradually increase the shipment from the Chennai Port Trust.

To a question on the handling of cars at the port, he said till August the Port shipped 79,530 cars as against 52,948 cars shipped last financial year. “The export of KIA Motors from Chennai Port Trust is expected to boost.
The port has taken up various measures to clear the congestion inside the port area; he said a Coastal berth measuring 260 metres in length has been constructed with sufficient back-up. “Bunkering berth is under construction and should be ready by March 2020,” he said.

Coffee exports turn sluggish in the second half of the year Read more at: //economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/71234327.cms?utm_source=contentofinterest&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=cppst

KOCHI: Supply crunch, uncertain crop prospects and competitive prices are forcing Indian coffee exporters to go slow on shipments in the second half of the year.

According to Coffee Board data, coffee exports from the beginning of January to September 18 at 276573 tonnes show a marginal increase which the exporters attribute to higher shipments in the first few months.

The decline started after June with thinning arrivals. The trend may continue for the next few months till the new harvest happens by December,’’ said Ramesh Rajah, president of Coffee Exporters Association.

Any disruption in supply could affect export prospects of the country because of increasing competition from countries such as Vietnam, the second largest coffee producer, he said. Glut and lower prices had led to a 10% fall in Indian coffee exports in 2018.

Any disruption in supply could affect export prospects of the country because of increasing competition from countries such as Vietnam, the second largest coffee producer, he said. Glut and lower prices had led to a 10% fall in Indian coffee exports in 2018.

“In the last two months, arrivals have dwindled. The growers could be holding back, expecting a higher price,’’ said MP Devaiah, general manager at Allanasons, an exporter.
India’s exports mostly comprise robusta beans which command a premium in the global market because of superior quality. “But if we consistently fail in meeting export commitments, then top buyers like Italy may shift to other sources like Vietnam which is selling at a cheaper rate than us,’’ Rajah said. As the extent of damage from heavy rains on the next crop is yet to be assessed, exporters are hesitant to enter new contracts.

ICC has launched Incoterms® 2020, the newest edition of the renowned trade terms for the sale of goods, providing certainty and clarity to business and traders everywhere

ICC has launched Incoterms® 2020, the newest edition of the renowned trade terms for the sale of goods, providing certainty and clarity to business and traders everywhere.

The Incoterms® rules were first introduced by ICC in 1936 to establish commonly accepted definitions and rules related to the delivery of goods between trading parners worldwide. Since then, ICC has periodically revised the Incoterms® rules to reflect changes in the international trade system. The 2020 edition launches during the organisation’s Centenary year.
More accessible and easier to use, Incoterms® 2020 includes more detailed explanatory notes with enhanced graphics to illustrate the responsibilities of importers and exporters for each Incoterms® rule. The introduction to Incoterms® 2020 also includes a more detailed explanation on how to choose the most appropriate Incoterms® rule for a given transaction, or how a sales contract interacts with ancillary contracts.
  • Incoterms® 2020 provides for demonstrated market need in relation to bills of lading (BL) with an on-board notation and the Free Carrier (FCA) Incoterms® rule.
  • Incoterms® 2020 aligns different levels of insurance coverage in Cost Insurance and Freight (CIF) and Carriage and Insurance Paid To (CIP).
  • Incoterms® 2020 includes arrangements for carriage with own means of transport in FCA, Delivery at Place (DAP), Delivery at Place Unloaded (DPU), and Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).
  • There is a change in the three-letter name for Delivered at Terminal (DAT) to DPU.
  • Incoterms® 2020 includes security-related requirements within carriage obligations and costs.
On the release of Incoterms® 2020, ICC Secretary General John W.H. Denton AO said:
“Incoterms® 2020 rules make business work for everyone by facilitating trillions of dollars in global trade annually. Because they help importers and exporters around the world to understand their responsibilities and avoid costly misunderstandings, the rules form the language of international sales transactions, and help build confidence in our valuable global trading system.”
In line with ICC’s commitment to make technology work for all, access to essential information of the rules will be made easier than ever via a dedicated Incoterms® 2020 mobile application, which includes a wide variety of informative features, including latest news updates, event information and training opportunities.
ICC dedicated training sessions help ensure that the Incoterms® rules are appropriately applied. The ICC Academy, ICC’s dedicated e-learning platform, is offering Incoterms® 2020 training courses, as well as the Incoterms® 2020 Certificate. The online training includes interactive case studies that allow trainees to apply their understanding of the Incoterms® rules by simulating real-life work scenarios. The course content was written by leading experts to ensure consistency with ICC’s standards of excellence.
Incoterms® 2020 is available for purchase through ICC’s e-commerce platform: https://2go.iccwbo.org/. Budget a road map for New India based on inclusive growth: Sharad Kumar Saraf, President, FIEO

Commenting on the Union Budget, Mr Sharad Kumar Saraf, President, FIEO said that the budget announcements are aimed at transforming India to usher in US$ 5 trillion economy and make the country the best place for Ease of Living and Ease of Business. The budget addresses, observe Mr Saraf, some of the basic challenges faced by manufacturing as well as exports including flow of credit, infrastructure bottlenecks, labour laws, skilling, etc.
The export credit declined by 22% as on 31st December, 2018 compared to the same period in 2017. Rs.70,000 crore allocated to PSU banks will ease the flow of credit. The interest subvention of 2% given to MSME as well as payment platform for bill filing for MSME will help in flow of credit at competitive cost. The investment of Rs.100 lakh crore in infrastructure in next 5 years through Bharatmala, Sagarmala, Jal Marg Vikas Project will help in improving logistics, reducing transportation cost and increasing competitiveness. The PMMSY for the robust fisheries management framework will give a push to marine exports from the country in which India has emerged as the largest exporter though huge untapped potential still exists. The support given to GI products and artisans to showcase in global markets will provide much needed exposure to them paving the way for further exports. Focus on clusters in Bamboo, Honey and Khadi will not only create huge employment opportunity but will also give a push to their exports. The identification of 17 iconic tourism sites will give a push to tourism exports in the country.
The emphasis on digitalization and faceless assessment will go a long way in ensuring objectivity, transparency and speed, said Mr Saraf.
However, President, FIEO said that Government may look into extending reduction in Corporate Tax to all companies irrespective of turnover so as to attract overseas investment waiting on the fringes both in US and China though enjoying much lower Corporate Tax in their respective countries.

Decline in exports reflects worsening global economic conditions: Sharad Kumar Saraf, President, FIEO

Reacting to the sliding merchandise exports growth during June, 2019, FIEO President, Mr Sharad Kumar Saraf said that such a de-growth in exports is a reflection of sluggish global demand and rising tariff war. The high exports base of June 2018 contributed in no less measure. The softening of crude and steel prices also pulled down exports.

FIEO Chief is of the view that due to US-China Trade war and developments in Iran further aggravated the problem of the world economy. The uncertainty attached to it will also affect the flow of investment and add to currency volatility.

Only 9 out of 30 major product groups were in positive territory during June 2019 including some plantation and agri sector, iron ore, ceramic products & glassware, drugs & pharma, electronic goods and jute manufacturing including floor covering. Rest all major sector of exports including almost all labour-intensive sector exports besides petroleum for first time in recent times were in the negative with such a decelerating trend.
Mr Saraf said that domestic issues including access to credit, cost of credit especially for merchant exporters, interest equalization support to all agri exports, benefits on sales to foreign tourists and quick refund of GST should be seriously looked into.
